As Trump stepped out of his limousine on Monday morning, Biden greeted him with a warm smile and the words, “welcome home.”

This marks Trump’s second visit to the White House since leaving office in 2021. His initial return occurred shortly after his re-election victory in November when Biden invited him for a meeting in the Oval Office.

The custom of having pre-inauguration tea was established in 1837 with President Martin Van Buren and President Andrew Jackson.

Following their meeting, Biden and Trump are set to travel together to the U.S. Capitol for the swearing-in ceremony.
