House Oversight Committee to Issue Subpoena for Testimony from President and Hunter Biden
The House Oversight and Accountability Committee plans to subpoena President Joe Biden and his son Hunter over allegations of influence peddling during their foreign business dealings. According to bank records provided by Panel Chair James Comer, payments totaling over $20 million were made from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan during Joe Biden’s time as vice president in the Obama administration. Comer accused Joe Biden of knowing about his son’s business dealings, lying to the American people, and allowing himself to be used to enrich the Bidens.
Comer stated that the committee intends to subpoena the Bidens despite the opposition and obstruction from their attorneys, adding that the matter will likely end up in court. The president’s legal counsel denies any connection between Joe Biden and Hunter Biden’s alleged foreign influence peddling. Comer called for transparency from the president’s team and urged them to share their personal bank records if they have nothing to hide.
During a confrontation with a reporter, Joe Biden asserted that he never discussed business matters with anyone and dismissed the question as untrue. However, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, testified that Joe Biden participated in Hunter’s calls during business meetings and dinners, where foreign businessmen were present and heard his voice. Archer suggested that foreign businesses paid to send signals to top levels of the Obama White House by involving Hunter Biden and his connections.
