House Republicans Request More Information on Weiss’ Nomination

House Republicans are questioning why U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland chose David C. Weiss to lead the ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden. Weiss, who is already prosecuting Hunter Biden in a similar case, was selected by Garland to widen the probe into other states. Republicans have criticized Weiss for offering Hunter Biden a lenient plea deal, which was later rescinded. They have also cited accusations from IRS whistleblowers about Weiss’ office in Delaware. The Republicans have requested documents and communications relating to Weiss’ appointment. This letter from House Republicans came shortly after Donald Trump’s legal team discussed a trial date for his election interference case.
