Huckabee Criticizes ‘Unreasonable’ Lawmakers Opposing Israel in Conversation with Newsmax

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee criticized Thursday on Newsmax members of the House who voted against a resolution supporting Israel and condemning Hamas terrorists.

In the House’s first action under new Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., lawmakers voted 412-10 on Wednesday for a resolution supporting Israel “as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists.”

Nine Democrats voted against the measure, including Reps. Jamaal Bowman and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Cori Bush of Missouri, members of the Squad of far-left wing Democrats and outspoken critics of Israel.

“There’s some crazy people in the Congress — anybody that doesn’t vote to support Israel in light of what they’ve been through, the attempted extermination of every last Jew on Earth,” Huckabee, a Republican presidential candidate in 2008 and 2016, told “The Chris Salcedo Show.”

“Hamas wasn’t willing to just start and stop on [Oct. 7]. Anyone who thinks so is a fool. These are people who continue to issue their chant ‘from the river to the sea,’ which means, ‘let’s get rid of every Jew.'”

Only one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, voted against the resolution. In a post Wednesday on X, Massie wrote, “I condemn the barbaric attack on Israel and I affirm Israel’s right to defend itself.” His post included issues outside of the support for Israel he had with the resolution.

“I think we need to recognize Hamas is a terrorist organization,” said Huckabee, although the U.S., European Union, and United Kingdom have designated Hamas as such. “They’re vicious. They’re savages. You can’t negotiate with them. They need to be eradicated. And the U. S. needs to give a green light to Israel to do whatever it takes for that to happen.”
