Hunter Biden Relinquishes D.C. Law License to Sidestep Disbarment Proceedings – One America News Network

Due to his criminal record, Hunter Biden has consented to surrender his law license in Washington, D.C.

Hunter previously faced a conviction for three felony tax offenses and six misdemeanor tax violations, as reported by the Department of Justice. He is also convicted of three felonies concerning the acquisition of a revolver back in 2018.
Despite his legal troubles, his father, former President Joe Biden, granted him a pardon in December 2024 — even after the former Democrat president had publicly stated he would not do so on multiple occasions.
“I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice,” Biden expressed at that time.
This week, Hunter Biden’s decision was disclosed through a series of submissions by the D.C. Bar’s Board on Professional Responsibility, which oversees attorney discipline matters.
By choosing to disbar himself voluntarily, Hunter sidestepped potentially lengthy legal battles concerning whether his prior criminal convictions warranted the revocation of his law license.
He was convicted of falsifying information on a gun purchase application regarding his drug addiction and illegally possessing a firearm while under the influence. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to tax evasion and related offenses in September.
The board maintained confidentiality regarding the details of Hunter’s decision, citing what its members characterized as “standard procedure.”
They recommended that the D.C. Court of Appeals, which ultimately decides all attorney discipline matters, approve his voluntary disbarment.
Earlier this March, 55-year-old Hunter communicated through a court filing that he has been facing financial difficulties, blaming a decrease in art sales and the January fires in L.A., which have severely impacted him following his father’s departure from the White House.
