Iowa Poll: DeSantis Experiences Fourth Slip as Trump Soars by 27 Points

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is facing a decline in support among Iowa GOP voters, according to the latest poll by National Research Inc. This marks the fourth consecutive decline for DeSantis, with a 6-point drop being the largest yet. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump maintains a steady lead at 42%, giving him a 27-point advantage over DeSantis and the rest of the field. The poll also revealed that TV ads critical of Trump are negatively impacting DeSantis’ campaign. Even among voters who hold a favorable view of DeSantis, a majority still prefer Trump. The poll, which surveyed 500 likely Iowa GOP voters, was conducted by American Greatness and has a margin of error of 4.38 percentage points. DeSantis’ super PAC, Never Back Down, plans to use its substantial funding to support his grassroots tour of Iowa in an effort to regain momentum. 13% of Iowa caucus voters remain undecided in the poll. Senator Tim Scott from South Carolina is also gaining support, potentially surpassing DeSantis for second place.
