Ipsos Poll: Trump and Biden Nationwide Tied at 40 Percent

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates that President Joe Biden and Republican challenger Donald Trump are currently tied in the race for the November presidential election. The poll shows that 40% of registered voters would vote for Biden if the election took place today, while the same percentage would choose Trump. This dead heat is consistent with a previous poll conducted in April.

However, with a margin of error of about 2 percentage points, many voters still remain undecided or are considering third-party options. About 20% of registered voters in the poll have not yet committed to a candidate.

The poll also found that anti-vaccine activist Robert Kennedy Jr., running as an independent, garnered 13% support in a hypothetical scenario where he appeared on the ballot with Trump and Biden. The survey highlights the importance of a few key swing states in determining the outcome of the election.

Both candidates face significant challenges leading up to the election. Trump is currently involved in multiple criminal trials, including one in Manhattan related to alleged payments made to an adult film actress. On the other hand, Biden faces criticism within his own party for his support of Israel’s military actions against Hamas.

The poll, which surveyed a nationwide sample of adults, suggests a close race between Biden and Trump, with both candidates tied at 46% among registered voters when third-party options are not considered. Among voters who are certain about their decision, Biden holds a slight 3-point lead.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll included responses from 3,208 registered voters surveyed online.
