Is Trump Infusing His Policy Platform with DeSantis’ Influence?

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump were once aligned politically, but now they seem to be moving closer once again, according to a report by Axios.

Despite DeSantis losing in the primaries, Trump is now incorporating many of DeSantis’ nuanced policy ideas into his own platforms, with the exception of a more aggressive stance on abortion.

Axios suggests that there is a mutual copying of ideas happening between the two politicians, with DeSantis previously following Trump’s MAGA ideology and now potentially influencing from the background.

While Trump’s policies remain unique to him, there is a noticeable influence from DeSantis, Axios reported.

According to Trump’s campaign communications director Steven Cheung, Trump has laid out a detailed policy plan known as Agenda 47 for his potential second term, focusing on a strong economy, secure borders, and America’s global reputation.

DeSantis’ office did not provide a comment to Axios’ request for input on the situation.

Despite past disagreements, DeSantis has publicly endorsed Trump for president and has reportedly been involved in fundraising efforts for the Republican Party, though they are not expected to be running mates.

Some of the policy areas examined by Axios include education and parental rights, crackdowns on digital currencies and squatters, and immigration enforcement.

On the issue of abortion, Trump has cautioned against strict restrictions, warning that conservative politicians need to balance their beliefs with electability. He has also emphasized the need to return abortion regulations to the states and criticized the radical Democratic stance on the issue.
