Jack Smith Highlights Enron’s Use of Juror Survey in Comparison to Trump
Special counsel Jack Smith is planning to introduce a questionnaire for potential jurors in order to identify any bias in the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump. He referenced similar cases involving the former CEO of Enron and the Boston Marathon bomber to support his argument.
In a Tuesday filing, Smith highlighted the necessity of a written questionnaire to assess exposure and potential bias given the extensive media coverage of the Trump case.
Smith has indicted Trump on 40 felony counts related to mishandling classified documents, alleging that they were stored at his Mar-a-Lago residence after leaving the White House.
Smith has requested the court to set a deadline of Feb. 2, 2024, for the parties to jointly submit a proposed jury questionnaire to identify areas of disagreement.
Additionally, Smith intends to suggest procedures to protect the identities, privacy, and security of prospective and selected jurors at a later time.
