James Lankford tells Newsmax that Biden’s Border Policy is Going in the Wrong Direction

Vicious lawbreakers are entering the United States illegally due to the Biden administration’s border policy, where criminal checks are done at the end of the process rather than at the beginning, according to Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., speaking to Newsmax on Tuesday.

Lankford’s comments came after an El Salvador man, who had been imprisoned for murder in his own country and illegally escaped to the U.S., was arrested over the weekend for the killing of a Maryland mother last year.

The White House announced on Tuesday that the Biden administration will allow certain spouses of U.S. citizens without legal status to apply for permanent residency and citizenship, potentially impacting around half a million undocumented individuals in the country.

Describing the new policy as “out of touch,” Lankford told “Wake Up America,” stating, “for years, I’ve been saying we need to conduct criminal checks at the beginning of the process, not years after individuals have already been in the country.”

“Biden’s policy worsens with his recent decision to close the border in name only, while actually not enforcing it, and offering a path to citizenship for half a million undocumented individuals,” Lankford added.

Lankford criticized Biden for his executive orders regarding immigration, stating that following the law is not mean, but necessary for the well-being of American citizens.
