Jimmy Carter’s Grandson Provides an Update on Former President’s Health
Former President Jimmy Carter has had “no change” to his health condition since entering hospice care approximately 16 months ago, revealed his grandson.
Jason Carter, the oldest grandchild of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, shared with Southern Living magazine that the 99-year-old former president is “experiencing the world as best he can as he continues through this process.” He also mentioned that “God has other plans” in reference to his grandfather’s prolonged time in hospice.
Carter went into hospice care in February of 2023.
During a recent visit a few weeks ago, Jason recounted a heartwarming moment with his grandfather. “I told him, I said: ‘Pawpaw, you know, when people ask me how you’re doing I say, ‘honestly I don’t know.’ He kind of smiled and said, ‘I don’t know, myself.’ It was pretty sweet,” Jason shared. They spent time watching an Atlanta Braves game, discussing the Carter Center, and catching up on family matters.
