Joe Lieberman: Chris Christie Could Fit the No Labels Profile

Chris Christie recently suspended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, prompting former Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., to express interest in discussing a potential bipartisan No Labels unity ticket with him.

Lieberman, a co-founder of the No Labels movement, revealed his intention to reach out to Christie during an interview on SiriusXM, stating that he believes Christie could be a strong candidate for the bipartisan ticket.

Despite potential candidates not being locked down, Lieberman mentioned that there is an “informal recruitment underway” to find a third-party candidate. He emphasized that while the No Labels movement does not want to be spoilers in the race, it is focused on restoring bipartisanship and national interest to the government.

There have been doubts expressed by critics and Christie allies and donors regarding his interest in seeking a third-party bid. However, Lieberman remains optimistic about the former New Jersey governor’s potential alignment with the No Labels movement.

While Christie’s campaign manager, Maria Comella, mentioned that there have been no conversations with No Labels, Lieberman reiterated his desire to speak with Christie directly, expressing his belief that Christie’s independence aligns with the No Labels vision.

As presidential primary elections are approaching, Lieberman stressed that the movement is actively reaching out to potential candidates and hopes they will consider running for the good of the country.
