John Bolton tells Newsmax that the International Criminal Court is a terrible idea

According to John Bolton, former ambassador to the United Nations, the International Criminal Court is considered an illegitimate institution, as reported on Newsmax.

Bolton discussed the ICC’s pursuit of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as Hamas terrorist leaders on “Newsline.”

ICC’s Karim Khan mentioned charges against Netanyahu and Gallant including accusations of “causing extermination, starvation as a method of war, denial of humanitarian relief supplies, and targeting civilians deliberately in conflict,” during an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.

In response, Bolton criticized the charges against Israel and called the ICC a “fantasy idea.”

He expressed concerns that the ICC could target the United States in the future, describing it as a fundamentally flawed concept with no accountability or control.

Bolton believes that the ICC’s actions may complicate ongoing conflicts and criticized the timing of the arrest warrants issued during a war against a democratic nation like Israel.

He suggested that the U.S. should impose sanctions on the ICC if it targets the U.S. or its allies.

In defense, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel, a democratic country committed to international law, is being accused of war crimes while facing existential threats.
