On Thursday, Ratcliffe received Senate confirmation with a vote of 74-25.

Before stepping into his role as the CIA director, Ratcliffe served as a congressman from Texas.

For the last four months of Trump’s initial term, he held the position of Director of National Intelligence, which he secured through a tight Senate confirmation vote of 49-44.

The position he vacated is currently being pursued by Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who has switched from Democrat to Republican.

Ratcliffe is the second person confirmed by the Senate following President Donald Trump’s inauguration. Previously, Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was confirmed and sworn in as Secretary of State.
