Jon Stewart Slams Biden’s Press Conference Smile as ‘Not Good’

Jon Stewart expressed his dissatisfaction with President Joe Biden’s handling of his first press conference following former President Donald Trump’s conviction in Manhattan.

During the press conference, as Biden was walking away, he was questioned about Trump labeling himself a political prisoner and blaming Biden for his conviction. Biden unexpectedly stopped walking, much to Stewart’s dismay.

“No, don’t stop!” Stewart shouted on “The Daily Show” on Monday. “Don’t stop. Why can’t they just tell him to keep walking? Whenever he stops in public, it’s not good.”

Biden then grinned before continuing to walk away, leaving Stewart bewildered.

“Why does everything have to be so strange?” Stewart questioned. “Why? If you have something to say, say it. If you don’t, then don’t. But stopping and delivering some kind of ’70s sitcom freeze frame?”

“The Daily Show” then aired a clip of Biden smiling with cheesy music playing, captioning it as: And President Joe Biden as Colonel Butters.

Trump was convicted of 34 felony charges in a scheme to allegedly influence the 2016 election by characterizing a payment to his lawyer Michael Cohen as a “legal expense.”

This trial and conviction marked the first time a former president has been tried or convicted in a criminal case.
