Joni Ernst condemns Biden’s threat to withhold weapons from Israel as “abhorrent,” tells Newsmax

Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa criticized President Joe Biden’s threat to withhold weapons and artillery shells from Israel if the country invades the city of Rafah as “abhorrent” in an interview with Newsmax on Thursday.

President Biden stated that the U.S. would not provide Israel with artillery shells or other munitions if their military initiates a ground offensive in Rafah, a city in the south of Gaza with around 1 million residents who have sought refuge there.

“Civilians in Gaza have suffered casualties due to these bombs and other methods used by Israel in targeting populated areas,” as reported by Biden on CNN.

In an interview with “National Report,” Ernst labeled Biden’s ultimatum as “abhorrent” and a betrayal of Israel, a valued ally.

She expressed, “President Biden’s decision appears to be empowering Hamas and appeasing Iran, contradicting the stance that the U.S. Congress took when passing the supplemental package just a month ago.”

Ernst also pointed out that Congress was not informed about this decision by Biden, leading her and Senator Ted Budd from North Carolina to inquire about the withheld munitions, with no response received so far.
