Judge Napolitano Tells Newsmax: Cohen’s Personal Issues Could Impact Trump Trial

Former Judge Andrew Napolitano told Newsmax on Monday that Michael Cohen’s testimony against former President Donald Trump could bring to light Cohen’s own questionable background during his time on the stand.

Napolitano explained on “Newsline” that in conspiracy cases, the government’s witnesses often have their own history of wrongdoing, similar to the charges faced by the defendant. Despite Cohen’s baggage, Napolitano noted that the government has to work with the witnesses available to them.

He mentioned that while Cohen will be on the stand for multiple days, his words need to be backed up by documented evidence to strengthen the case against the former president.

However, Napolitano commented that Trump has been effective in defending himself outside the courtroom by making statements to the press, which can influence public opinion even though they cannot be used as evidence in court.
