Judge Napolitano tells Newsmax that the Georgia DA’s affair has no impact on Trump charges

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis might have had an “improper” and “clandestine” relationship with the married special prosecutor who assisted in securing the Georgia grand jury indictment against Donald Trump, but that does not affect the charges against the former president, former New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano told Newsmax on Tuesday.

“Even though this looks bad and doesn’t pass the smell test, it really doesn’t affect the charges against the former president and his 16 co-defendants,” Napolitano said on “Wake Up America.”

The judge spoke after Willis defended the qualifications of special prosecutor Nathan Wade in the state’s case against Trump, declaring that the accusations against them are racial.

Willis failed to disclose her alleged relationship with Wade while paying him for his work on the Trump case with funds he allegedly used to go on extravagant vacations with her.

Napolitano said Willis was merely deflecting from the accusations by claiming racial discrimination, since her defense of her actions did not actually relate to the fact that her personal relationship with Wade might interfere with judgment calls made in the courtroom.

Napolitano called her remarks “a political response, not a legal one” and that her appealing to a racial bias “might work for her politically, but it will not resonate with the court.”

He stressed that “the court will be concerned with whether decisions were made because of this intimate relationship as opposed to what is best for the prosecution.”
