Judge Questions ‘Non-Prosecution Agreement’ for Hunter Biden

A judge has rejected Hunter Biden’s plea agreement with federal prosecutors and has ordered both sides to work out a new deal. The judge questioned a provision in the agreement titled “Agreement Not to Prosecute,” which states that the United States agrees not to criminally prosecute Biden for any federal crimes encompassed by the attached Statement of Facts. The judge specifically asked if the government would be allowed to bring a charge under the Foreign Agents Registration Act for Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, to which the prosecutor responded “Yes.” However, Hunter Biden’s attorney disagreed with the government’s statement. As a result, the judge stated that there was no deal. Hunter Biden then pleaded “not guilty” and discussions began on how to proceed with a new agreement.
