On Tuesday, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the DHS for documentation related to the security details provided at the rally on July 13th, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania, where an assassination attempt on Trump occurred.
The organization claimed to have previously accessed records concerning the event, including the Butler County District Attorney’s Office reports on rally preparations and body-camera footage from local police.
Nevertheless, they asserted that their requests for further records and information from the federal government have gone unacknowledged.
“Federal agencies need to be transparent regarding the circumstances surrounding the assassination attempts on President Trump,” stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “It has now been eight months since the initial attempt, and the American public is still waiting for answers under FOIA regarding the Biden administration’s shortcomings in safeguarding President Trump.”
Judicial Watch also noted that their FOIA request specifically focused on the Homeland Security Investigations unit, or HSI, which allegedly assisted in providing security for the Pennsylvania rally.
