Kari Lake Claims Willis Allegations as ‘Proof’ That Trump Case is a ‘Witch Hunt’ on Newsmax

Arizona GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake told Newsmax on Friday that the allegations against Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis “is proof the case against [former President] Donald Trump is a witch hunt.”

A former Trump campaign official earlier this month filed a court motion accusing Willis of improperly hiring an alleged romantic partner to prosecute Trump, allegations that Willis pushed back against in a court filing this week.

Lake said on “Newsline” that “This is proof the case against Donald Trump is a witch hunt made up by an angry woman who ran trying to get her name out there.”

She continued, “I mean, what we are uncovering with this affair that she allegedly had with this married man, the … taxpayer money that was being poured into his salary. Basically, he was making more than attorneys who actually had experience with these types of cases. He was making more then taking her on fancy cruise ship trips and vacations where the two lovers could hook up.”

Lake said, “It’s really disgusting, and [Georgia GOP Gov.] Brian Kemp needs to do something about this. The people of Georgia the people of America demand that these witch hunts end and he’s got an option to do something right now.”

She added, “I hope he returns home quickly from Davos, [Switzerland], where he’s hanging out with his buddies and does the right thing for the people of Georgia, for the taxpayers.”
