Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, a Republican, expressed support for former President Donald Trump following news of his indictment. Lake took to social media to declare that “Georgia just sealed the deal” on Trump’s potential 2024 presidency. Her statement came shortly before a grand jury in Fulton County returned a 13-count indictment against Trump. These charges are related to his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. The charges include offenses such as RICO, conspiracy to commit forgery, filing false documents, and solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer. The indictment also names 17 other defendants. Despite the charges, Lake expressed her belief that the accusations are unfounded and part of a corrupt justice system trying to dictate the Republican nominee.
