Karl Rove: Public Desire for Non-Trump and Non-Biden Candidates
Voters want someone other than Donald Trump or Joe Biden as president in 2024, according to former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove. Rove warned that if no changes are made, the 2024 presidential campaign will be the “worst dumpster fire in history.”
Rove wrote in the Wall Street Journal that the front-runners from both parties will not be easily replaced, but he believes that a new face from either party could win the White House.
Referring to a recent New York Times/Siena College poll, Rove stated that neither Trump nor Biden look favorable to voters. The poll shows Biden trailing Trump in five of the six most important battleground states. Additionally, there is a real risk for Biden from young, Latino, and black voters due to poor approval ratings on key issues, concerns about his age, and doubts about his mental sharpness.
On the other hand, Trump beats Biden in the poll, but his GOP opponents beat Biden by even wider margins in every battleground state, suggesting that a new face could lead to a historic victory for the Republicans.
Rove acknowledges that both front-runners have significant weaknesses and believes that Democrats and Republicans should consider new faces for the 2024 race.
