Karoline Leavitt Tells Newsmax: Biden’s Immigration Policy Prioritizes Foreign Interests over America’s

Karoline Leavitt, national press secretary for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, expressed to Newsmax on Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s immigration policy does not prioritize the safety and security of Americans.

On Tuesday, Biden issued an executive order implementing stringent restrictions on asylum seekers at the southern border to address immigration as a political concern ahead of his upcoming debate with Trump later this month and the November elections.

Under this order, migrants will be denied asylum when U.S. officials determine that the southern border is overwhelmed. The order will come into effect once the number of border encounters between ports of entry reaches 2,500 a day.

“Joe Biden’s immigration policy can be summed up as ‘America last,'” Leavitt stated on “Prime News” with host Joe Pinion. “Biden aims to grant mass amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants he has allowed into the country. Taxpayers are already supporting them, providing housing in hotels, sending them to their chosen city on taxpayer-funded flights. Many of them go on to commit serious crimes in their chosen city, and instead of being deported, they are released back into the community to cause further harm.”

Leavitt cited the case of Bernardo Castro-Mata, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, who allegedly shot at New York police officers on Monday, injuring two. Castro-Mata was apprehended while illegally crossing the southern border in July 2023, but his immigration case was dismissed by a Chicago judge on May 6.

She also mentioned the tragic case of Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia who was murdered by Jose Ibarra, another illegal immigrant from Venezuela. Ibarra entered the U.S. illegally in September 2022, was detained briefly, and then released. Months before Riley’s murder, he was arrested for endangering a child but was released.

“How many more American lives must be endangered or lost at the hands of illegal immigrants before Joe Biden takes action?” Leavitt questioned. “His focus is not on our safety and security but on expanding the electorate with a new voting base. Democrats ultimately aim to grant these illegal immigrants voting rights to gain electoral advantage, as true Americans do not support these policies that put them last.”
