Ken Buck, a Representative, suggests Biden’s Cabinet should invoke the 25th Amendment

Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., has introduced a resolution urging Vice President Kamala Harris to convene Joe Biden’s Cabinet and invoke the 25^th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, initiating the process to remove the president from office.

Buck’s resolution calls on Harris to declare Biden unfit to discharge his duties and powers to the nation.

This move is surprising as Buck has previously been against impeaching Biden and voted against impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for border security failures.

The Washington Examiner quoted Buck stating, “Numerous instances have shown President Biden’s cognitive decline and lack of mental stamina in public view.”

Buck cited special counsel Robert Hur’s report on Biden’s handling of classified documents at his home, which highlighted concerns about the president’s age and fitness.

In addition to verbal blunders, Biden has made recent mistakes in conversations with deceased world leaders and confusing Egyptian and Mexican presidents.

No sitting president has been removed via the 25^th Amendment, which requires Cabinet majority support, Harris’s agreement, and a two-thirds vote in Congress.

Several Republicans have called for invoking the 25^th Amendment following the Hur report.

Rep. Claudia Tenney, R-N.Y., sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland urging him to explore the 25^th Amendment.

Sens. Rick Scott, R-Fla., Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Josh Hawley, R-Mo., have also called for its use.
