Kerik Holds Meeting with Prosecutors from Special Counsel’s Office

Former New York City police commissioner Bernard Kerik met with prosecutors from special counsel Jack Smith’s team for five hours on Monday to discuss the actions of Rudy Giuliani following the 2020 election. Kerik’s attorney confirmed the meeting and stated that it focused on the efforts of Giuliani and his team to prove that Donald Trump won the election based on their belief of widespread fraud. Kerik, who is a Trump ally, previously turned over thousands of pages of documents to the special counsel’s office. Last week, Giuliani implied that he is co-conspirator 1 in the Washington, D.C. indictment against Trump, but Kerik’s attorney stated that Giuliani is unlikely to be charged by the special counsel. Kerik served as New York City’s police commissioner during the 9/11 attacks and was appointed by Giuliani. He later pled guilty to tax fraud and lying to White House officials and was pardoned by Trump in 2020.
