Kerry, US Climate Envoy, to Depart from Biden Administration
U.S. climate envoy John Kerry will be leaving the administration later this year to assist with President Joe Biden’s election campaign, according to Kerry’s office on Saturday.
Kerry, a former U.S. secretary of state, notified his staff earlier on Saturday after speaking with Biden earlier this week, a spokesman for Kerry told Reuters.
Axios first reported on Saturday that Kerry, 80, will depart the administration later this winter and plans to support Biden’s campaign.
Kerry played a key role in brokering the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement and the UAE Consensus, which calls for the transition away from fossil fuels and was reached in December at COP28 in Dubai.
