Kia recalls more than 460,000 Telluride SUV models for potential fire hazard – One America News Network

Kia issued a recall on Friday for its Telluride SUVs, warning owners of the 2020-2024 models to park outside and away from other vehicles and structures due to an apparent fire risk.

The car manufacturer issued a “park outside” recall for over 462,869 vehicles.
According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the front power seat motor can easily overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can cause the vehicle to catch fire.
The recall will affect certain vehicles manufactured from January 9th, 2019, through May 29th, 2024, according to the NHTSA.
Dealers will be installing a bracket for the power seat switch back covers, and they will also replace the seat slide knobs at no cost, according to the NHTSA.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by July 30th, 2024, and owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC316.
Additionally, owners of the select vehicles can call the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
A “burning or melting smell,” smoke from underneath the seat, or an inability to adjust the power seat are warning signs of the issue, according to Kia.
