On Monday, the White House issued its most thorough response yet concerning the numerous drone sightings reported across New Jersey, New York, and the Northeast in recent weeks.

Last week, many Americans expressed their concerns over the absence of information or explanations from U.S. federal agencies regarding the drone activity. While owning and operating drones is common, the recent increase in sightings has raised alarm among residents.
“Something is not right. For some reason, they don’t want to inform the public,” Donald Trump remarked previously about the drone situation.
On Monday, National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby along with White House officials finally shared their perspective.
“We believe that the current sightings consist of a mix of lawful commercial, hobbyist, and law enforcement drones, in addition to manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and even stars that were mistakenly identified as drones,” Kirby explained to reporters.
“There are over 1 million drones legally registered with the Federal Aviation Administration here in the United States,” he added. “On any given day, thousands of commercial, hobbyist, and law enforcement drones are in the air. This makes up the ecosystem we are dealing with.”
“So far, we haven’t identified anything unusual or any risks to national security or public safety in the civilian airspace over New Jersey or other states in the Northeast,” he concluded. “We will continue our investigation.”
For approximately a month, the surge in drone sightings in New Jersey, New York, and other Northeastern regions has left both federal and local officials puzzled.
While Kirby’s remarks on Monday provided more clarity than previously available, it’s clear that authorities are still examining the situation, and additional information regarding the drones may emerge in the coming weeks.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI issued a joint statement last week, indicating that there is no current evidence to suggest that the reported drone sightings pose any threat to national security or public safety or have any foreign connections.
“However, while there are no known malicious activities in New Jersey, the reported sightings underscore the inadequacies of current regulations,” they added.
