Kremlin States Trump Case Highlights US’ Efforts to Eliminate Competitors
The Kremlin commented on Friday regarding the guilty verdict of former President Donald Trump, stating that it reflects the use of all legal and illegal tactics in the United States to eliminate political rivals.
Donald Trump made history on Thursday as the first U.S. president to be convicted of a crime, after a New York jury found him guilty of falsifying documents to conceal a payment made to silence a porn star before the 2016 election.
“When it comes to Trump, the blatant elimination of political rivals through any means, whether legal or illegal, is evident,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during a news briefing.
Trump, aged 77, is scheduled for sentencing on July 11.
The campaign of U.S. President Joe Biden stated that the verdict demonstrates that “no one is above the law,” but it is unlikely to significantly impact the dynamics of the upcoming Nov. 5 election.
