Kristi Noem Suggests Trump Could Benefit from a Female VP Pick
According to South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, former President Donald Trump would benefit from selecting a woman as his vice-presidential running mate. Noem, during an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” suggested that having a female running mate could help Trump secure more women voters in swing states.
“I think that would be beneficial,” stated Noem. “Based on the polling data I’ve seen, having a woman assisting him in the campaign can make a difference in many swing states.”
Although Noem was once considered a potential pick, she was not included in the list of reported candidates currently under review by the Trump campaign.
“I don’t mind. I love my role in South Dakota. My main concern is ensuring that he wins,” she mentioned.
The only woman being considered at the moment, as per recent reports, is Rep. Elise Stefanik from New York. Notably, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who is also a former U.N. ambassador and GOP presidential candidate, did not make the list.
“I’ve consistently advised President Trump that he should choose whoever enhances his chances of winning,” Noem explained to CNN. “I have been loyal to him since the beginning of his candidacy in 2016. His main focus is on selecting a running mate who can effectively govern from day one.”
While Noem was once seen as a potential VP candidate, her chances may have been affected by the release of her recent book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward.”
In the book, Noem recounted the difficult decision to euthanize her pet dog Cricket, which had become uncontrollable and posed a threat to others. This revelation sparked criticism from Democrats and mainstream media outlets.
“That story is from 20 years ago and involves a mother making a tough decision to protect her family from a dangerous animal,” Noem defended. “It was a difficult moment for me, which is why it’s included in the book.”
