Lawmakers Press Secretary Mayorkas on Border Crisis; WHO Scales Back Vaccine Recommendations



Fired-up lawmakers pressed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a Senate hearing yesterday. Republican senators questioned Mayorkas’ competence in handling the border crisis.

The CDC now says it found concerning data on the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine months earlier than previously known to the public. Meanwhile, the WHO declares that most people don’t need an additional COVID-19 booster.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says the fire that killed 38 people was started by migrants after learning they were to be deported. Mourners in Ciudad Juarez held a vigil outside the offices of the Mexican National Migration Institute.
