Leavitt from the MAGA PAC Believes GOP Debates Are Ineffective

Republican presidential debates are a “waste of time,” Karoline Leavitt, the spokeswoman for Make America Great Again, the super PAC backing former President Donald Trump, said after Wednesday’s debate.

“Everyone seems to agree that these primary debates are a waste of time that will do nothing to change the state of the race,” Leavitt said in a statement.

She added that even Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who “needed to have a spectacular showing” panned the debate when it was over.

“He said during a post-debate interview, ‘If I were at home watching that, I would turn the channel,'” Leavitt said.

Meanwhile, DeSantis and “the rest of the second-tier candidates have wasted tens of millions of dollars” while having two debates to make their case, but “all have failed,” Leavitt said.

“It’s in the best interest of the American people to stop wasting time and money on this distraction — let’s unite around President Donald Trump and take the fight to Joe Biden,” Leavitt said.

Trump, the clear front-runner in the race for the GOP nomination, skipped Wednesday night’s debate in favor of giving a stump speech in Michigan to blue-collar workers, including striking United Auto Workers union members. Trump also skipped the first GOP debate in August.
