Lebanon Group Allegedly Linked to Hezbollah Faces US Sanctions
The US Treasury Department has designated Lebanon-based Green Without Borders (GWB) and its leader, Zuhair Subhi Nahla, as terrorism supporters. GWB was founded in 2013 as an environmental non-profit group, but the Treasury Department stated that it has served as a cover for Hezbollah’s activities in southern Lebanon. The group has established outposts manned by Hezbollah operatives near the Israeli border, impeding the United Nations’ peacekeeping efforts. GWB has also caused problems for Lebanese citizens and engaged in clashes with locals, according to the Treasury Department.
