Former leaders of the far-right Proud Boys group, Joseph Biggs and Zachary Rehl, have been sentenced to 17 years and 15 years in prison, respectively, for their roles in the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. They were convicted of charges including seditious conspiracy. Two other members of the Proud Boys, including national chairman Enrique Tarrio, are scheduled to be sentenced soon. The sentences are among the longest handed down so far related to the attack on the Capitol. More than 1,100 people have been charged in connection with the riot, with over 600 already convicted and sentenced.
