Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry Responds to Mick Jagger’s Comments
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, a Republican, playfully responded to Mick Jagger’s criticism of his policies during the Rolling Stones’ performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
“We’re a welcoming crowd, aren’t we?” Jagger jokingly remarked to the audience. “I hope Mr. Landry is enjoying the show. He’s real inclusive, you know. He’s trying to take us back to the Stone Age.”
The Hill reported that Landry supports an abortion ban and has endorsed legislation targeting the LGBTQ community.
Despite the criticism, WDSU-TV noted that Landry appeared to take Jagger’s comments in good humor.
On Twitter, Landry responded with a reference to a Stones’ song, saying: “You can’t always get what you want.” He also expressed his appreciation for Jagger, stating, “Love you buddy, you’re always welcome in Louisiana.”
However, Landry couldn’t resist poking fun at the Stones’ frontman with the hashtag “#LoveMyCountryMusic.”
