Louisiana’s Education Chief Suggests State Might Challenge Biden’s Title IX Revision in Interview with Newsmax

The state of Louisiana is considering a legal challenge to the Biden administration’s revision of Title IX, according to state Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley in an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday.

Last week, the Department of Education expanded the definition of sex under Title IX to include transgender, a move that Brumley believes goes against Louisiana’s laws regarding sports separation by biological sex.

Brumley stated that Louisiana schools have been advised to continue their existing practices until the state officials can review the changes brought about by the revision.

He expressed concerns that the new rule could endanger children and dismantle equal opportunity and protections for female athletes. Brumley, along with other Louisiana officials, are exploring legal options to challenge the Biden administration on this issue.

The revised rule is over 1,500 pages long and is set to go into effect in August. Brumley wants time to thoroughly review the rule before implementation.

He emphasized that the revision could violate the First Amendment, disrupt protections for female athletes, and create additional bureaucratic challenges for schools.
