Lt. Gov. Robinson Refuses to Provide Answers about N.C. Watchlist Suspect in Interview with Newsmax

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, a Republican candidate for governor of the state, expressed his disappointment on Newsmax regarding the lack of response from the Biden administration regarding the arrest of an immigrant on the federal terrorism watchlist.

During an interview on Newsmax’s “America Right Now,” Robinson criticized President Biden for prioritizing healthcare over border security in North Carolina. He emphasized the importance of protecting the sovereignty of the United States by securing the border.

The individual in question, Awet Hagos, was apprehended in a rural area of North Carolina and faces charges related to resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, and assaulting a public official, as reported by NBC affiliate WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina.

After Hagos was fingerprinted, federal authorities instructed local officials not to release him due to his presence on the terrorism watchlist. Hagos, originally from Africa or the Middle East, had recently been in Haiti before entering the United States last year.

Robinson’s opponent, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein, denied the existence of sanctuary cities in the state. However, Robinson highlighted that certain sheriffs in North Carolina refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officials.

Expanding on his views, Robinson criticized the state’s “woke” initiatives, citing his Christian beliefs as the basis for his opposition. He emphasized the need to uphold law and order by addressing critical issues such as the economy and education in North Carolina.
