Lynne Marie Stewart, the beloved actress from “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” has passed away at the age of 78.

On Friday, Stewart’s close friend and fellow actress Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson shared the heartbreaking news through an Instagram post.
“My heart is shattered upon learning of my dear friend Lynne Stewart’s departure,” Peterson expressed. “One of the kindest, sweetest, and funniest individuals to have ever lived. The iconic Miss Yvonne from ‘Pee-wee’s Playhouse.’ She will forever hold the title of ‘the most beautiful woman in Puppetland.’”
The official cause of death has not been disclosed as of yet.
Stewart’s journey in comedy began at The Groundlings, a well-known improv and sketch troupe in Hollywood, where her friendship with “Pee-wee” creator Paul Reubens blossomed.
Throughout her career, she guest-starred in popular shows such as “M*A*S*H*,” “The Golden Girls,” “Laverne & Shirley,” and “Night Court.” She also had a role in the classic 1973 film “American Graffiti.”
In 1981, she made her debut as Miss Yvonne in “The Pee-wee Herman Show,” later reprising the role in the CBS children’s series “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” which aired from 1986 to 1990.
Stewart continued to work alongside Reubens in several films, including “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” in 1985 and “Big Top Pee-wee” in 1988.
She also portrayed Bonnie, the mother of Charlie Kenny, in the comedy series “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” which ran from 2005 to 2023.
