Majority of Voters Favor Two-Party System According to Rasmussen Poll

A recent poll by Rasmussen Reports found that the majority of Americans, regardless of their political affiliation, prefer the two-party political system over a one-party system. Only 15% of voters believe the United States would be better off with just one political party, while 71% disagree, and 14% are unsure. Both Democrats and Republicans reject the idea of a one-party nation, with 64% of Democrats and 71% of Republicans opposing it. China, Cuba, and North Korea were mentioned as examples of countries with one political party. The blame for the political divisions in America is shared between Democrats and Republicans, with 39% of voters saying Democrats are more to blame and 35% saying Republicans are more to blame. Men are more likely than women to blame Democrats for dividing the country and also more likely to reject a one-party system. Age and racial differences also play a role, with younger voters and minorities being more open to a one-party system. Higher-income individuals are more likely to blame Republicans for dividing America, while lower-income individuals are more likely to blame Democrats. College-educated voters are less likely to support a one-party system, and retirees are more likely to reject the idea. The poll was conducted with 1,004 likely voters and has a margin of sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points.
