Matt Whitaker Shares with Newsmax: Trump Administration Reveals Cohen’s Lies
Former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker told Newsmax on Monday that the defense team in the New York business documents case involving former President Donald Trump will continue to expose Michael Cohen as an unreliable witness during his upcoming testimony.
Whitaker explained that Cohen’s testimony has been inconsistent and unreliable, and the defense will clearly demonstrate this during cross-examination, showing that Cohen cannot be trusted and has been lying to the jury.
He also emphasized that the alleged payments at the center of the case are not illegal under federal campaign election laws, questioning the basis of the trial under New York law.
Whitaker expressed confidence in the weakness of the case, suggesting that there is no need for further defense rebuttal against the prosecution’s arguments.
Regarding the judge in the case, Whitaker suggested a conflict of interest and stated that if the judge was not conflicted, he would issue a directive verdict today. He also argued that the government has not met the burden of proof required for a conviction.
Whitaker predicted that the jury verdict could lean towards a hung jury or even a defense verdict of not guilty, as he believes the case against Trump has not been proven.
