Matthew Whitaker Tells Newsmax: Victory for Rule of Law in Abortion Pill Decision

Acting attorney general in the Trump administration, Matthew Whitaker, spoke with Newsmax on Thursday regarding the Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling on preserving access to mifepristone. This medication was utilized in nearly two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S. last year. Whitaker described the ruling as a victory for the rule of law.

The justices determined that abortion opponents did not have the legal standing to challenge the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of mifepristone and the agency’s efforts to make it more accessible. The case posed a threat to access to mifepristone across the nation, even in states where abortion is legal.

On “The Chris Salcedo Show” with guest host Lidia Curanaj, Whitaker highlighted how the ruling dispels the notion held by most Democrats that the court is biased toward conservative issues.

Whitaker emphasized, “It also demonstrates the significance of the rule of law in America. The ruling indicated that the plaintiffs lacked standing, which is a win for the rule of law. This affirms the importance of our justice system and the Constitution.”
