McDaniel, Former RNC Chief, Becomes Contributor at NBC News
Former Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel has been named an on-air political contributor for NBC News, as announced by the network on Friday.
McDaniel’s debut will be on Sunday’s “Meet The Press,” marking her first interview since stepping down as RNC leader earlier this month. She will also appear on MSNBC, NBC’s sister cable channel.
“It’s a crucial moment to have someone like Ronna on board,” said NBC News’ Carrie Budoff Brown, who is responsible for the network’s political coverage, in a memo obtained by The New York Times.
Brown also mentioned that McDaniel will offer “an insider’s insight into national politics and the future of the Republican Party.” McDaniel will also play a role in the coverage of the 2024 campaign, including election nights.
McDaniel will add another conservative perspective to NBC News, joining Marc Short and Brendan Buck, a former top aide to Paul Ryan. Short previously served as chief of staff to former Vice President Mike Pence.
McDaniel announced her resignation as RNC chair at the end of February, stepping down at the RNC’s spring meeting on March 8 in Houston. Michael Whatley was elected as chair on that day and Lara Trump, former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, was chosen as co-chair.
