Meeting Scheduled Between Trump, Speaker Johnson, and NRCC Chair Hudson

According to Axios, Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chair Rep. Richard Hudson, R-N.C., in Florida next week.

The meeting, set to take place at Mar-a-Lago on Monday, will focus on November election plans as Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, along with Johnson and Hudson discuss strategy, Axios reported.

With Republicans aiming to maintain control of the House in the upcoming elections, where they currently hold a 218-213 seat edge, such meetings are crucial.

Furthermore, Johnson is expected to join Trump in a closed-door meeting with Senate Republicans this week, as he accepted an invitation from Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso, the GOP conference chair.

The recent conviction of Trump in his New York case led to a significant increase in online fundraising for the GOP’s House and Senate campaign arms, with the NRCC and NRSC enjoying their best one-day hauls of the cycle, The Hill reported.

House Republicans are also proceeding with investigations into the Justice Department and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg following Trump’s conviction on felony charges, with a House vote on whether to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt expected to take place as early as Wednesday.
