Megyn Kelly’s Message to Newsmax: Nikki, a Contemporary Neoconservative
Despite the attempts of Nikki Haley’s campaign to frame her as a fresh face in the GOP, in the end, she’s just a modern-day neocon, which is what the Republican party as a whole has moved away from, journalist Megyn Kelly told Newsmax.
Speaking to “Eric Bolling: The Balance” ahead of the New Hampshire Republican primary on Tuesday, Kelly says that while neocons are pushing for Haley to win, “the question is: Is that enough of a constituency in order to actually get the nomination in today’s Republican Party? And there’s absolutely no evidence that it is.”
“She’s a new generation; she’s right about that,” Kelly adds. “She’s not the same generation as Trump. But is she new or is she very much like George W. Bush?”
“The party as a whole is Trump’s party, and it became Trump’s party and a MAGA party for a reason. It was a rejection of the Bush approach to foreign policy and donor classes, and so on. So I don’t think she’s wrong that she’s a new generation. It’s just of what? Yes, age and age alone. [Haley seems] to be representing the past and a lot of other ways.”
Kelly went on to note she doesn’t believe Haley will win New Hampshire.
