Former first lady Melania Trump is rejoining her husband’s presidential campaign with a rare political appearance after a prolonged absence from Donald Trump’s latest White House run.

She is set to participate in a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans, an advocacy group for LGBTQ+ members of the GOP. The event will be held behind closed doors at their Palm Beach, Florida estate. This marks her first significant political engagement of the year.

Melania Trump had been noticeably absent from her husband’s campaign events for months, including his Super Tuesday victory party. Her attendance at the Log Cabin Republicans fundraiser, a group she has previously supported, suggests she may increase her involvement in the campaign with several months remaining until the November election.

The couple recently voted together in the Florida primary, and when asked by a reporter if she would return to the campaign trail, Melania Trump simply responded, “Stay tuned,” with a smile.

She also attended a high-profile fundraiser at John Paulson’s Palm Beach mansion, where she was photographed with her husband. The Log Cabin Republicans describe themselves as the largest organization representing LGBT conservatives and their straight allies who advocate for fairness, freedom, and equality for all Americans. Melania Trump was a special guest and award recipient at their 2021 Spirit of Lincoln award dinner held at Mar-a-Lago.

Following a televised interview in which Melania Trump spoke about the importance of unity and equality, the Log Cabin Republicans thanked her for her message.

While the group endorsed Trump for his commitment to inclusivity during his 2020 reelection bid, critics have raised concerns about his record on LGBTQ+ issues. Some of his policies, including barring transgender individuals from military service and restricting embassy displays of LGBTQ+ pride flags, have faced national criticism.

In his campaign speeches, Trump has made promises regarding transgender rights, including cutting federal funding for schools promoting what he refers to as “transgender insanity” and prohibiting certain medical interventions on minors.
