Members of the J6 Select Committee Facing Indictment from Trump

Former President Donald Trump is calling for the indictment of members of the Democrat-led House select committee that investigated the events of Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.

Trump, angered by a federal judge’s decision to send former adviser Steve Bannon to prison for defying a subpoena from the select committee, alleges in a Truth Social post that members of the committee should be charged for deleting and destroying material evidence.

“It has been proven that it was the Unselects who committed crimes by deleting and destroying material evidence to protect Crazy Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats from the TRUTH — THAT I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG,” Trump wrote.

In February, Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., chair of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight, released a report containing allegations against Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., chair of the committee, and vice-chair Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., for failing to turn over video recordings of witness interviews and depositions despite using them in hearings.

Loudermilk’s report also revealed over 100 deleted or password-protected files were recovered, including some deleted just before Republicans took over the House majority. The committee also concealed transcribed interviews of witnesses with firsthand knowledge of Trump’s actions on Jan. 6, according to the report.

“The unlawful actions of our Law Enforcement have reached unprecedented levels of criminality,” Trump stated. “INDICT THE UNSELECT J6 COMMITTEE FOR ILLEGALLY DELETING AND DESTROYING THEIR ‘FINDINGS!’ MAGA2024.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has called for committee members to face criminal charges. In March, he demanded repercussions after a report revealed Cheney omitted an interview with a Secret Service driver who denied Trump’s alleged attempt to commandeer the presidential limo on Jan. 6.

“She should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!” Trump posted on Truth Social on March 17.
