On Monday, Obama shared that the new podcast, titled “IMO,” aims to foster “thoughtful conversations about life.”

“Given the current events around the globe, many of us are seeking answers and supportive voices,” she remarked.

“My brother Craig and I created the IMO podcast to provide a welcoming space where individuals can arrive with their true selves, ask sincere questions, share their views, and engage in meaningful discussions about life.”

The podcast will showcase both the former first lady and her brother as they offer their “honest perspectives” while tackling “everyday inquiries that influence our lives, relationships, and our surrounding world.”

“There isn’t a single solution to the difficulties we face—whether family-related, faith-driven, or regarding personal connections—but taking the time to discuss these topics can foster hope,” Obama expressed.

Robinson, 62, added, “Growing up, we shared our thoughts on both major and minor life questions. Now, we invite our listeners into that dialogue, hoping it ignites new ideas, perspectives, and creates the connections we all need at this moment.”

This announcement follows Michelle’s decision to step back from the public eye after the 2024 presidential election results.

In January, Michelle did not attend the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter nor President Donald Trump’s inauguration, allowing her husband, former President Barack Obama, to represent them at both events alone. The reason for her absence has not been publicly explained.

The first two episodes of the podcast are scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, with subsequent episodes anticipated to follow weekly.

Obama and Robinson will be taking the stage at SXSW in Austin, Texas, on Thursday to record a special live episode of the podcast, as confirmed by the company.

Since leaving the White House in 2017, Obama has authored two memoirs: “Becoming” and “The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times.”
