Mike Huckabee praises Joe Lieberman’s character in interview with Newsmax

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee expressed his sorrow over the passing of Joe Lieberman during an appearance on Newsmax on Thursday. Huckabee mentioned that he and Lieberman shared a strong love for Israel.

Joe Lieberman, who made history as the first Jewish person to run as Democrat Al Gore’s vice-presidential nominee in 2000, passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday.

“He was truly an exceptional figure in politics,” Huckabee stated on “Rob Schmitt Tonight.” “Losing him is a great loss. One thing we both bonded over was our passion for Israel. Joe Lieberman was a true gentleman in every sense. He held strong convictions but never harbored any ill will towards anyone. He had a charming and approachable demeanor.”

Huckabee highlighted Lieberman’s dedication to his faith as an example for others to follow.

“He also exhibited something very significant,” Huckabee continued. “He lived out his Jewish faith with authenticity. Every week, when the Sabbath arrived, he adhered to it. He took it seriously and made sure to observe it. He didn’t compromise for political or social events. He was a devout Jewish gentleman, setting a standard not only for Jewish individuals but for Christians and others as well: Take your faith seriously, practice it, and live it out. His profound commitment had a deep impact on both Jewish and Christian communities.”
