Elon Musk, a Special Government Employee (SGE), took a jab at White House Senior Counselor Peter Navarro on Tuesday, labeling him a “moron” after Navarro downplayed Musk’s role in the automotive industry, suggesting that the Tesla CEO is simply a car assembler rather than a true manufacturer.

A clash on social media unfolded on Tuesday between Musk and Navarro, with the latter minimizing Tesla’s contributions by claiming the company functions merely as a car assembly operation rather than a manufacturer.

Navarro further accused Musk of not aligning with the Trump administration’s “America First” agenda, alleging that Tesla depends on foreign entities to ensure its operations run smoothly, which contrasts with an all-American approach.

“What we want — and our vision differs from Elon’s — is for the tires to be made in Akron, the transmissions in Indianapolis, the engines in Flint and Saginaw, and for the cars to be manufactured here,” Navarro elaborated.

In response, Musk did not hold back after hearing Navarro’s comments, expressing his discontent clearly.

“Tesla produces the most American-made cars. Navarro is as clueless as a sack of bricks,” Musk stated in a post on X. In another post, he remarked, “Navarro is genuinely a moron. His claims are outright false.”

In a CNBC interview, Navarro further demoted Musk’s stature in the industry, referring to him simply as a “car person” eager for “cheap, foreign parts.”

“Regarding tariffs and trade, we understand in the White House, and the American public acknowledges, that Elon is indeed a car manufacturer, but he’s merely a car assembler,” Navarro reiterated.

Following the spat, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the situation, suggesting that the back-and-forth reflects the Trump administration’s commitment to transparency.

“Whatever,” Leavitt remarked, dismissing the insults, as reported by CNBC. “We are the most transparent administration in history, openly expressing our disagreements.”
